Restorative
Justice Process
When a minor crime is committed, the RCMP or Crown Council may decide the matter will be best dealt with using the Restorative Justice approach, in which case they will refer the case to ACJS.
Trained ACJS volunteers will then begin facilitating a process of individual conferences leading to a full conference of all affected parties where personal experiences are shared, and where the offender has an opportunity to take full responsibility for their actions.
Further acts of restitution may include monetary remuneration and/or community service. It is essential to the success of the RJ process, that the offender take full responsibility for the harm caused by them.

Restorative Action Process
Restorative Action referrals are made directly from school administration in School District 69 or by the RCMP school liaison member.
ACJS works alongside school representatives to bring a conflict between students to a successful conclusion. The process concentrates on the harm caused and the reparation of the school community for all involved.

Community Dispute
Resolution Process
Community Dispute Resolution referrals are made by the RCMP or the general public for conflict issues, that are not criminal in nature.
A common type of referral is for neighbour disputes, where the goal is to create a safe and respectful discussion about the conflict to form a consensus-based group agreement. The process encourages people to talk about their concerns and we assist the participants in coming to a mutually agreeable solution.
Although the referral agents vary depending on the type of referral being made, the structure of the process remains consistent.
