Alyssa Noble
Program Coordinator
Alyssa has lived on Vancouver Island for most of her life. In 2016 she completed her B.A. in Criminology at Vancouver Island University. While completing her practicum with ACJS, she grew very passionate about restorative justice and the healing it can bring to those involved in the process.
Alyssa is dedicated to spreading awareness of restorative justice and helping others to make a difference in her community. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys exploring the outdoors and all that the Island has to offer.
Joyce Daman
Chairperson
Joyce is one of the founding members of ACJS who worked on behalf of the RCMP and the community to build, implement, and maintain the restorative justice program while allowing its growth and evolution.
Joyce’s past career was as an educator at all grade levels, as a secondary school counsellor & basketball coach. Being a people person who enjoys challenges, Joyce has lived, worked, and volunteered in the Oceanside area for nearly 50 years.
Pat Sali
Vice Chairperson
Pat is an Engineer retiring from a 41-year career in engineering, management, and project management. He has lived and worked throughout Canada and abroad, moving to Vancouver Island in 2004. He has been actively involved in a variety of volunteer positions and has been a part of ACJS since 2010.
Pat was attracted to ACJS believing there must be a better way to deal with crime than has been the norm, both from an individual and community perspective. He is an avid golfer, and also enjoys travel and outdoor activities.
Sharon Sawkins
Secretary
Sharon joined ACJS in 2019 and became a trained Facilitator as well as a Board member. She was raised on the Island before graduating and leaving for a career in Education in Ontario.
Becoming a special education teacher and eventually a principal sparked her interest in helping people come to a collaborative resolution when in conflict. After retiring in 1999, Sharon settled in Qualicum Beach.
Hugh Bohm
Director at Large
Hugh and his wife retired to Vancouver Island from Kamloops in 2001. His career has spanned several positions such as Hospital CEO, Intermediate Care CEO, and Mental Health Services CEO. Hugh has extensive passion previously participating in hunting, fishing, basketball, football, and racquetball.
Currently, Hugh is an International Certified Pickleball Teaching Professional and played the Arizona pickleball circuit for 10 years. Hugh is also deeply involved in slow pitch and plays in the Seniors League (55+) indoor and outdoor for year-round play. Injustices to victims of crime led Hugh to become involved with ACJS.
Petra Kintzinger
Director at Large
Petra first encountered the practice of restorative justice as a principal on the Lower Mainland. She became very interested and adapted the principles of restorative justice with young students to consistently positive effect.
Petra moved to Parksville as a retiree in 2020 and joined the ACJS team as a Facilitator and Board Member. She has participated in several cases now, and with each new case, she becomes more committed to this respectful and effective process for making wrongs right.
Breann Duchesne
Director at Large
From rural Manitoba, Breann relocated to Nanaimo in January 2022, drawn by the allure of the island and the opportunities it presented. Despite being new to the realm of restorative justice, Breann was captivated by its potential for positive change within communities. With over six years of experience as a legal assistant, she discovered restorative justice through her work and recognized its transformative power in resolving conflicts and fostering healing.
Currently pursuing a degree in Criminology at Vancouver Island University, Breann aspires to further her understanding of the justice system and ultimately attend law school to become a criminal lawyer. Firmly believing in the power of restorative justice to create meaningful change, she is eager to contribute her skills and knowledge to the Arrowsmith Community Justice Society, embracing every opportunity to learn and grow in this dynamic field.
Margot Summers
Director at Large
Margot was born and raised in the UK for 30 years. She has a vast background in many careers such as a flight attendant, the first female Store Manager for Birks Jewellers, working for a special marine company, and manning the Teen Crisis Phone Line.
Margot moved to Pender Island where she became very involved with many local organizations such as the Lions Club, and the Pender Post Society, and sat on several Boards and Committees, including the Social Awareness and the Community Hall Committees.
She liaised with the RCMP as their Victims Service Officer and was on the Founding Board for Restorative Justice there. When Margot moved to Qualicum Beach, she continued to volunteer her time to many local organizations and was drawn to restorative justice due to being raised to respect others, and to be non-judgemental and non-prejudicial.
Gino Pagliericci
Director at Large
Gino has served the public for over 40 years. Currently, he is a Community Safety Officer with the city of Nanaimo helping the unhoused and assisting the city with its narcotics issue. Previously he served for over thirty years as a police officer with the cities of St-Hubert in Quebec, the Canadian Armed Forces Military Police, Ports Canada Police, Vancouver City Police, and Abbotsford City Police.
Upon retiring he joined the SPCA Criminal Cruelty Investigation Division as a Special Constable while teaching the foundation of police at Discovery College and two Drug Recognition Courses at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He took the Chief Security officer position at a prestigious private school in Vancouver and then onto the University of Kwantlen Polytechnic.
Teaching restorative justice at the college and having used the process numerous times as a police officer, it became an instinct to join the Arrowsmith Community Justice Society. Gino looks forward to bringing his knowledge and expertise to the table.
